Logo registration -Spain is a member of the Madrid Agreement, the Madrid
Protocol and the European Union. Spanish logos are protected in the continental
territory as well as on the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and the
territories of Ceuta and Melilla in Northern Africa. Logo protection is
obtained by registration.

A logo
application has to be filed before the Patent Office in Madrid by a local
agent. A non-legalized power of attorney is sufficient. Foreign applicants do
not need a domestic registration.
Procedure of Spain Logo

The
Spain logo application process includes a formal examination, as well as a
substantive examination on absolut grounds for refusal. It takes approximately
6 months from first filing to registration. Before registration the Spain logo
application is published in the “Boletin Oficial de la Propiedad Industrial”,
issued daily. The opposition period is 2 months from publication date of the
application.

logo registration is valid for 10 years from the application date. The
registration is renewable for periods of 10 years.
